Roundtable: Pimple problem-solvers
We asked several individuals for their go-to acne and pimple treatments. When a zit strikes, we need all the help we can get. We are only mortals, after all. The question was: Help! What do you do about zits?
I dip a Q-tip into water and add a drop or two of tea tree oil. I dab it right onto the zit and it is much smaller and less inflamed the next day.
The tea tree oil dries it out. Just bought a tiny bottle at Trader Joe's.
Crushed-up Advil pills and water to form a paste can work for spot treatments. It will reduce the inflammation and redness caused by zits.
Mostly, I cry. I try to pop it when it gets huge, cover it up with makeup, then pray I don't have to see anyone.
I pop them. I've also been using Burt's Bees Herbal Blemish Stick at night.
If I have an issue, I usually try to be more diligent about washing my face. Also, I pick at it.
Antibiotic ointment from the drugstore works fine: bacitracin. And then I don't touch it.
When I feel big, cystic pimples coming, I just pop them. I rub alcohol on the pimple first and then pop it. And then one more round of alcohol so no pus stays on my skin.
I do the old pop 'n wash. Pop the zit, wash my face. That's it.
I don't get pimples anymore. So, thanks, birth control!
The CosRx Acne Pimple Master Patches are super cheap and very effective. The hydrocolloid draws out the gross stuff from the pimple while it adheres to your skin. Your pimple will be dried out overnight and less red in the morning.
Toothpaste. Really. But, in paste formula and not a gel, obviously.
Um, I don't know, I've never had one. Sometimes, I'll get an in-grown hair...
I swear by Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. I do nothing else for my skin when I break out.
I usually use a hot compress and exfoliate using Derma E Microdermabrasion Scrub daily instead of once a week.
I kill it by squeezing and using rubbing alcohol. I do not fuck around with that. I haven't tried anything nuclear but that seems like a great idea.
