Summer is around the corner and for some who live in warm climates it’s probably already here! You want that perfect glow, right? Whether you’re dry, oily, combination, there’s a few staple products that will plump up your skin and get give you that glow from within.

Shed me some skin

It’s a good idea to add an AHA exfoliant into your routine, if you haven’t already. This will help surface dead skins get buffed away and new, shiny skin show through. Avoid using these during the day, since they are sensitizing to the sun. Just use a mild percentage of AHA at night or a few times a week as a treatment. A good daily option is Glow Tonic with 5% glycolic acid by Pixi Beauty. If you want to splurge, and get baby’s butt soft glowy skin, try Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C Sukari Babyfacial with 25% AHA and 2% BHA. This is only to be used as a treatment maybe once a week. Both of these aid to polish away the skin chemically, and push cell turnover to face away those acne scars, dry patches and hyperpigmentation.

Drink some water and wear it too

Remember that good ol’ saying of drinking half your body weight in water ounces? It’s true, you should do that! You should also hydrate your skin with powerful hydrants and humectants. There’s a few products that will give you lightweight hydration and give you amazing glow instantly. Slap on some of these jelly like liquids after your exfoliants. Whamisa Natural Fermentation Organic Flowers Skin Toner - Deep Rich is an amazing product with fermented ingredients that will keep your skin plump throughout the day. This is especially perfect for warm weather when you don’t want to be wearing anything heavy or greasy. Pour some on your palms and press into your face and neck. I recommend 3-4 layers of this for lasting hydration. Another favorite is the Hada Labo Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Lotion, packed with powerful humectants and hyaluronic acid, this will give you lasting hydration. You can do a few layers of this. Another great way to stay hydrated is to use a mist. My favorite is the Honeysuckle & Turmeric brightening toner by Balm & Co.

Vitamic C is a thing

Powerful antioxidants will give you the perfect glow. Those can be found in vitamin c serums, as well as some powerful green beauty products. My favorite is Drunk Elephant’s C-Firma, with powerful antioxidants, and the most stabilized form of Vitamin C combine with powerful ingredients and oils to firm up your skin’s resilience, and built up strength against those free radicals. You can use this in the AM or in the PM. You don’t have to use it in the morning, that’s a myth. Basically you do you.

Shine bright like a disco ball

You’ve prepped your skin, you’re ready to get your face on, but your complexion looks kinda flat under your base. The trick is to layer your highlight, like you layer your hydration. Use a liquid base under your foundation like Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal. Apply your base, preferably something not matte, then pack on the highlight. The perfect combo is laying down a base with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light, which is a pale yellow powder that just adds a punch of brightening to your skin. Follow with the same powder in Dim Light, for a soft ethereal sunset glow, and top it off with Becca Opal in powder form or even better through in a little bit of a holographic effect with something like Stila Heaven’s Hue Highlighter in Kitten. Lock the whole look in with a setting spray that doesn’t contain alcohol, because you’ve done all this work and now you’re going to dehydrate your skin so your makeup can last? No ma’am. Check-out something like Clinique’s Moisture Surge for a very dewy look packed with glycerin or a more long-lasting spray like Makeup Forever Mist and Fix.

Stay glowy, don’t be dehydrated xx
